SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team took fifth at the Springfield College Massasoit Classic on Saturday. The team scored 62 points.
Sophomore
Kalynn Stevenson took first in the shot put with a new personal record of 12.21m. She then followed up with a 12.96mv toss in the weight throw to place second to claim 18 points between the two events for the Spartans.
Abigail Seaman jumped a personal best in the high jump with a mark of 1.46m to place fourth in the event. She also took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.23m to secure a total of eight points between the two events.
Isabell Lanfear tossed two new personal best in the throws. She claimed fourth place in the shot put with a toss of 11.28m and then followed up in the weight throw with a fifth place finish with a mark of 12.63m to total nine points for the team.
Rosie Phelan took first in the 1000m run with a time of 3:39 to secure 10 points for the team.
Olivia Howard took third in the event with a time of 3:57 to grab six points for the team.
VTSU Castleton returns to action Saturday, February 1 at 10 a.m. at the Panther Invitational II.
