MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field team took 5th place at the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational on Saturday. The team scored a total of 17 points.
 
Senior Wayne Alexander finished second in the 800m run with a time of 2:03 to secure eight points. Junior Carter Mackey leaped 1.95m in the high jump to also take second place and grab eight points for the Spartans.
 
Sophomore Connor Fournier scored a point in the shot put with a toss of 11.99m for an eighth place finish. Deacon Watson finished just outside of scoring position, throwing 11.54m in the shot put for ninth place. He then followed up in the weight throw with a 10.25m throw to take 14th in the event.
 
Jacques Alfani clocked in 54.71 in his debut run in the 400m. Zack Durr ran the 60m dash in 7.46 to cross the line in 18th.
 
VTSU Castleton returns to action Saturday, January 18 at 10 a.m. for the Panther Invitational I.
