SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field took fourth at the Springfield College Classic on Saturday.
Kicking off the day for the Spartans was
Bethany Davis, who captured the victory in the 10000m run with a time of 42:24 to secure 10 points for Castleton. This marked a new personal record for Davis and she currently sits fourth in the conference.
Amber Cuthbert grabbed 6 points with a third-place finish in the 800m with a season's best 2:34.
Kalynn Stevenson placed third in the shot put to secure six points for the Spartans with a toss of 11.13m.
Karli Martin and
Katelyn Yerdon also competed in the shot put to combine for three points with throws of 9.29m and 9.08m. Martin went on to compete in the hammer throw where she placed fourth with a toss of 36.84m to secure five points. Stevenson found herself in the discus throw, where she secured another six points with a toss of 33.12m to place third overall.
Luna Perry-St. Peter and
Isabell Lanfear placed fifth and sixth in the javelin throw to grab seven points for the Spartans. Perry had a toss of 33.05m and Lanfear tossed 32.41m.
McKenna Castor lowered her program record in the 100mh with a wind-aided 16.70 in the preliminary round. She placed fifth to qualify for the finals but would not go on to compete in the event.
The Spartans return to action Saturday, April 13 for the Penman Relays in Manchester N.H.
