SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field took seventh at the Springfield College Classic on Saturday.
Highlighting the day for the Spartans in the javelin throw was
Harrison Leombruno-Nicholson. Leombruno took first place in the event with a toss of 55.72m to earn 10 points for the Spartans. His throw currently leads the Little East Conference and is ranked 20th in the nation in Division III.
Jon Hendley secured eight points with a second-place finish in the 5000m run with a time of 15:48.
Britain Goodemote also grabbed eight points for the Spartans in the triple jump, where he finished second with a leap of 12.88m.
Carter Mackey tied for third place in the high jump with a new season best of 1.87m to earn 5.5 points to round out Castleton's scoring.
Sidiki Sylla competed in the discus throw and placed 11th with a toss of 31.72m. Sylla also competed in the shot put, placing 12th with a toss of 10.66m.
Connor Fournier joined Sylla in the shot put, where he placed 10th with a throw of 11.07m.
The Spartans return to action Saturday, April 13 for the Penman Relays in Manchester N.H.
