NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team placed eighth at the Little East Conference Championship on Saturday.
Leading the way for the Spartans was first year Kalynn Stevenson, who scored 12 points for the team. Stevenson started in the shot put, where she tossed a huge personal best and a new program record of 11.84m to place her third in the event. She then moved on to the discus throw, placing third with a toss of 37.59m.
Taylor Ross bested her program record in the triple jump with a leap of 10.53m to take second in the event and score eight points for the squad. Bethany Davis ran a personal record in the 10,000m with a time of 42:09 to take fourth and secure four points for the team.
Karli Martin took sixth in the hammer throw with a new personal best of 39.63m to grab a point in the event. Isabell Lanfear also secured a point with her sixth-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 31.46m.
Katelyn Yerdon placed eighth in the discus throw with 31.08m, Amber Cuthbert finished ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:38.77 and Rosie Phelan took ninth in the 5000m with a new personal best of 21:40.
The Spartans return to action Friday, May 3 at the New England Championships.
