NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field team placed seventh at the Little East Conference Championship on Saturday.
Highlighting the day was senior Harrison Leombruno-Nicholson, who on his last throw tossed a 60.45m to take first place in the javelin and secure 10 points for the Spartans. His throw sets a new program record and currently ranks him first in the region and 13th in Division III.
Carter Mackey placed second in the high jump with a new personal record of 1.95m to secure eight points for the team. First year Sidiki Sylla tossed a new personal best in the shot put to take fourth overall with a throw of 12.85m to grab four points. He also had a new personal best in the discus throw with a toss of 32.45m to take ninth in the event. Jon Hendley placed fifth in the 5000m with a time of 15:55 to secure two points for the team.
Miles Mitchell took sixth in the javelin with a toss of 43.98m to secure a point for Castleton. Connor Fournier tossed a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 12.34m to take seventh in the event, Wayne Alexander placed 11th in the 800m with a time of 2:02.29 and Britain Goodemote took seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 12.85m.
The Spartans return to action Friday, May 3 at the New England Championships.
