Women's Track and Field Open Outdoor Season at Hamilton

 CLINTON, N.Y. – Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field opened their outdoor season at the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational on Saturday.
 
VTSU Castleton made their outdoor debut at the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational on Saturday. Getting the Spartans going was sophomore Luna Perry-St. Peter, who opened her season with a third place finish in the javelin with a toss of 28.75m.
 
First year McKenna Castor brought her success in the hurdles from indoors to outdoors, setting a new program record in the 100m hurdles with a time 17.02 to take seventh in the event.
 
Amber Cuthbert continued her daily 800-1500 double to kick off the season. She ran a 5:27 in the 1500 to place 15th, then shortly after followed up with a 10th place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:40 to cap off her debut. Bethany Davis competed in the 5000m where she placed ninth overall with a time of 20:29.
 
Kalynn Stevenson made her first appearances in the outdoor rings. She began in the shot put, placing sixth with a toss of 10.81m. She then made her way to the discus throw, where she tossed a 26.77 to place 19th overall. Katelyn Yerdon also competed in the discus throw, where she tossed a 27.43 to finish 14th in the event. Karli Martin cracked the top 10 for her first time throwing hammer with a toss of 36.60 to placer 10th.

The Spartans return to action next Saturday, April 6 at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational with time to be determined.
