Gorham, Maine – Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field placed eighth at the Little East Conference Championships on Saturday.
The Spartans competed at the LEC Championship on Saturday, where they scored 23 points to place eighth overall. Highlighting the day was senior
Taylor Ross, who placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 10.39m to claim eight points for the Spartans. First year
Karli Martin took third overall in the weight throw with a new personal record of 13.82m to secure six points. Fellow first year Kaylnn Stevenson also competed in the weight throw and placed sixth with a toss of 13.21m to secure a point.
Stevenson would go on to find her way in the shot put, where tossed nearly half a meter over her previous personal record. Her toss of 11.49m placed her third overall and secured six points for the Spartans. The mark is also a new personal and program record, surpassing the previous record of 11.23m held by Lauren Folland.
Amber Cuthbert continued her double trouble fun in the mile and 800m, placing sixth place in both events with times of 5:41 in the mile and 2:34 in the half mile run.
The Spartans will be back in action Sunday, February 25-26 for the New England Championships.
