Men's Track and Field Place Seventh at LEC Championship

Gorham, Maine – Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field placed seventh at the Little East Conference Championships on Saturday.
 
The Spartans competed at the LEC Championships on Saturday, where they scored 16 points to place seventh overall. Highlighting the day was first year Sidiki Sylla in the shot put. Sylla tossed a 12.46m, which put him at a tie for second but due to tiebreaker formatting, Sylla was bumped to third to claim his first podium finish. Harrison Leombruno-Nicholson also competed in the shot put and pulled out a massive PR of 11.78m to move into scoring position with a fifth place finish.
 
Senior Jon Hendley lowered his program record with a strong run in the 5000m. Hendley scored four points with his fourth place in a time of 15:26.84. Matt Spiller also reset his program record in the 400m, clocking in a 52.25 for fifth place and two points.
 
Wayne Alexander scored two points with his fifth place finish in the 600m in 1:26.30.
 
The Spartans will be back in action Sunday, February 25-26 for the New England Championships.
