Women's Track and Field Debut at Utica Holiday Classic

UTICA, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field team opened their 2024-25 season at the Utica Holiday Classic on Saturday. 

VTSU Castleton saw two program records fall by sophomore Kalynn Stevenson and first-year Abigail Seaman. On her third throw, Stevenson tossed 11.53m in the shot put to best her previous school record of 11.49m at the Little East Conference Championship a season ago. Her mark landed her fifth overall in the event.  

In her collegiate debut, Seaman made it to finals in the triple jump where on her last attempt she leaped 10.52m to take third in the event. Seaman's final leap was set a school record, besting the previous record of 10.43m set by Taylor Ross a season ago. Seaman also competed in the high jump and landed with a 1.45m leap for sixth place.

Karli Martin placed 7th in the weight throw with a mark of 13.49m while Stevenson took 9th with a mark of 12.86m. McKenna Castor competed in the 60 and 200-meter dash, where she clocked in an 8.51 in the 60m for 17th and 28.41 for 14th in the 200m.

First-year Adrian Clement placed 13th in the long jump with a mark of 4.36m. Olivia Howard made her debut in the mile where she ran 6:57 for 19th overall.

VTSU Castleton returns to action on Saturday, December 14 at noon for the USM Alumni Open at Southern Maine.
