GORHAM, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field team competed at the USM Alumni Open Saturday afternoon.
Taking the day was junior
JaQuincy Bostick with a monstrous leap of 14.06m to secure the victory in the triple jump. Bostick's new program record puts him first in the Little East Conference and Mideast Region and 11th in Division III. He is the first Spartan to leap over 14m in program history.
Jacques Alfani, Zackary Durr, and
Jonathan Tshamala placed 6th-8th in the prelims for the 55m dash with times of 6.96, 6.97, and 6.97. In the finals, Durr crossed the line in 6.95 to take fifth place. While Alfani took 6th in 7.05 and Tshamala finished 7th in 7.21.
Carter Mackey took second in the high jump with a leap of 1.93m.
Jon Hendley ran the mile in 4:52 to finish third in the event.
Wayne Alexander placed fourth in the 500m dash with a time of 1:10.
Sidiki Sylla finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 12.68m. He then followed up with a toss of 10.17m in the weight throw for 6th place.
Eddie Sayers took 6th in the shot put with a toss of 12.42m while
Connor Fournier followed up behind Sayers in 7th place with a mark of 11.58m.
VTSU Castleton returns to action on Saturday, January 11th for the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational.
