WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton football team saw two student-athletes named to All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference teams on Thursday afternoon, highlighted by a First Team All-MASCAC honoree.
Kevin McDonough worked his way on to the First Team Defense list, while
Tyler Buxton earned Second Team placement. The duo were All-Conference nominees during the 2023 season as well.
McDonough is a unit at inside linebacker, finding himself among the best in the nation. The Concord, N.H. native is ranked second in NCAA Division III in total tackles (126), and ties for fifth in solo tackles (63). He also leads the MASCAC in tackles per game, averaging 12.6. The senior recorded a career-high 19 tackles against Mass. Maritime on September 21.
Buxton earns the second All-Conference nod of his career after ranking fourth in the league in tackles for loss with 11 going for 37 yards. He was sixth in sacks with four. He led his squad in sacks for loss with his four going for 20 yards. The outside linebacker was the Spartans' best pass rusher with his four quarterback hurries.
