GORHAM, MAINE – Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field placed eighth at the Husky Invitational on Saturday.
Highlighting the day for the Spartans was first year
McKenna Castor. Castor broke the program record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.71, beating the previous record set in 2020. Castor placed in the finals after qualifying with a time of 9.74 in the preliminaries.
Taylor Ross placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.40m to secure eight points for the Spartans. Kaylnn Stevenson took fourth in both the weight throw and the shot put with throws of 13.79m and 10.86m. Stevenson's 13.79m toss in the weight throw is a new personal record for the first year.
Amber Cuthbert continues her strong season with a fourth place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:33.06 to grab four points for Castleton.
The Spartans return to action Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m. for the Panther Invitational II.
