Men's Track and Field Place Fifth at the Husky Invitational

GORHAM, MAINE – Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field placed fifth at the Husky Invitational on Saturday.
 
Highlighting the day for the Spartans was senior Jon Hendley. Hendley entered the 3000m with a personal best of 9:34. He shattered his own personal record with a new time of 9:12 to place fourth overall. Hendley's time is a new program record.
 
Another program fell at today's Invitational, with Matthew Spiller in the 400m. Spiller clocked in a 52.43 to place sixth. Spiller's time beats the previous school record of 53.39 set back in 2017.
 
Wayne Alexander had a strong performance in the 800m with a second place finish to secure eight points for the Spartans with a time of 2:03. Carter Mackey also secured eight points in the high jump with a leap of 1.85m and Taylor Bourn tied his personal record of 6.48m in the long jump, which was good for fourth place.
 
The Spartans return to action Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m. for the Panther Invitational II.
