PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After putting together an impressive week both in the circle and at the plate, Castleton softball's Alexis Rogers was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week.

Across four games, the freshman went a combined 6-10, tallying four doubles, two RBIs, and a team-high six runs. Rogers kicked off her Castleton career with a 1-2 effort against Ithaca College, registering the Spartans' lone run in the fifth inning. In their second game of the afternoon against St. Joseph University, the Queensbury native repeated her 1-2 effort, ripping a double to start off an eventual three-run inning that secured Castleton's first win of the season.

Rogers' weekend was highlighted in their 23-6 win against the Barons of Franciscan Saturday afternoon. Batting in six spot, the first year went a perfect 4-4 at the plate — including hitting her third and fourth doubles of the season — tallying a pair of RBIs, and scoring a trio of runs on her own.

For as strong as Rogers was at the plate this weekend, she was equally as effective in the pitcher's circle. Making her first career start against St. Joseph, the freshman pitched a near-complete game, allowing just two earned runs and fanning five batters in her first collegiate win.

The Spartans will look to continue their hot start to the season Thursday, March 23 when they take on SUNY Cobleskill in their home-opener, with first pitch of the doubleheader set for 3 p.m.
