Women's Track and Field Show Out at Utica Holiday Classic

UTICA, N.Y. – Vermont State University Castleton women's track and field placed 10th at the Utica Holiday Classic.
 
The Spartans traveled to Utica N.Y. for one more competition before the holiday break. Highlighting the meet was senior Taylor Ross, who placed fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 10.26m. Ross' mark is a new school record, leads the LEC and is eighth in the region.
 
Continuing in the field, Kaylnn Stevenson finished 5th in the weight throw with a mark of 13.71m. Her toss meets the standard for the Mideast region and is currently fourth in the region and second in the LEC. Teammate Karli Martin was not too far behind Stevenson, as she placed seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 13.52m. Martin also qualified for the Mideast region and is currently fifth in the region and third in the LEC.
 
Out on the track, Amber Cuthbert captured a victory in the 800m with a time of 2:32 to secure 10 points for the Spartans. She also doubled back and finished fifth in the mile with a time of 5:36. Helen Culpo and Rosie Phelan had massive personal records in the 3000m. Culpo ran a 11:35, which was good for sixth place and Phelan placed eighth with a time of 12:41.
 
The Spartans will enjoy the holiday break and return to action next year, January 13 at the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational.
