SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Vermont State University Castleton men's track and field placed 5th at the Springfield College Season Opener on Saturday.
The Spartans opened their season at Springfield College, where they scored 36 points and placed 5th overall. Highlighting the day was senior
Jon Hendley, who took first place and secured 10 points in the 3000m run with a time of 9:40.72. Sophomore
Britain Goodemote secured 8 points for the Spartans with his second place finish in the triple jump. Goodemote's 12.87m is a new personal best in indoors.
First year
Sidiki Sylla made his collegiate debut in the shot put, tossing a 11.65m to place him in fifth and secure points for the Spartans.
Wayne Alexander competed in the 1000m and finished fourth overall with a time of 2:46.24 and
Carter Mackey placed sixith in the high jump with a mark of 1.80m
The Spartans travel to Utica, N.Y. to compete at the Utica Holiday Classic Saturday, December 9 at 11 a.m.
