LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 17 Castleton University wrestling team placed 11th overall at the NWCA National Duals in a field of 24 programs, going 3-3 over the two-day event with two wins over top-15 opponents.

The Spartans went 2-2 on the first day of competition to seed into the 9th-through-12th-place bracket on Saturday. The day began with a 28-11 loss to No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater before the Spartans capped the tournament with a 26-15 win over No. 7 Wabash—the runner-up at the 2022 NCAA Championships last March. Castleton also logged a win over No. 14 Wisconsin-Platteville in Friday's action.

Castleton was one of only two teams in the New England Wrestling Association to make the tournament, with Johnson & Wales competing as well. The Wildcats placed second at the event.

The Spartans also had four wrestlers compete in NWCA Men's Extra Matches on Saturday, a four-man bracket-style event to allow more competition for wrestlers who did not appear in a majority of their teams' duals at the event. Gavin Bradley, Desmond McLaughlin and Abbas Abdulrahman were all victorious in their four-man brackets, while Drew Marchese finished second in his bracket.
