CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Vermont State University Castleton wrestling team concluded the 2025-26 season on Friday at the NCAA Division III National Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
16th-seeded
Drew Marchese made his NCAA Championship debut, opening with a 10-0 major decision win over Keno Vanier of Augsburg to move onto the opening round of the championship bracket, where he fell in a 9-0 major decision to the first-seeded Christian Guzman of North Central. He pulled Trevor Middendorf of SUNY Brockport in the consolation preliminary round, taking him down with a pin in 4:43 to move on to round one of consolations later Friday evening. His final match of the day pitted him against the eighth-seeded Izzy Balsiger of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a close 9-6 sudden victory loss to close out his senior season.

Jashon Holmes opened Friday morning with a 3-0 decision loss to Carter Davis of Penn Tech during his first Nationals appearance, as he was pushed to the consolation preliminary round for match two of the day. He matched up with Justice Hockenberry-Folk of Elizabethtown, where he fell 10-3 via decision as his season concluded Friday afternoon.
Desmond McLaughlin also appeared at the NCAA National Championship for the first time, opening Friday morning with a tight 5-3 decision loss to Remington Bauer of Baldwin Wallace in the preliminary round. In the consolation preliminary round, he faced the 10th-seeded Easton Hull of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, falling in a 7-4 decision as his season came to a close.
The Spartans concluded the season with a 15-8 dual record, qualifying three individuals for the NCAA National Championship, with one of the three qualifiers winning at least one match at the event in Marchese.
