HARTFORD, Conn. – The 13th-ranked Castleton University wrestling team picked up two more wins on Saturday in dual matches, stretching its winning streak to four in a row at the Trinity Duals.
The Spartans opened the day with a win against No. 23 Alvernia, 24-9, before topping Trinity (Conn.) 42-9 to close the day. Castleton dropped just five out of 20 total bouts in the duals.

In a nationally-ranked battle to start the day, Castleton took the first three bouts via decision.
Kaya Bogle won 1-0 at 125 pounds before
Michael Gonyea tallied a 6-5 decision at 133.
James Rodriguez improved to 33-2 overall with a 6-4 decision at 141. Alvernia got on the board at 149 with a decision win of its own to make it 9-3, but
Jashon Holmes was a 6-1 winner at 157 for Castleton to make it 12-3 Spartans at the midway point.
Desmond McLaughlin was topped by the No. 2 165-pounder in the country in Matt Lackman with a 6-0 decision, putting the score at 12-6, before
Cooper Fleming got the Spartans back in the win column with a 9-3 decision win.
Sampson Wilkins pinned Isaac Kassis, ranked 14th nationally at 184, late in the third period to put Castleton ahead 21-6 and seal the dual victory.
Haven Tatarek added a 3-1 decision win at 197 for good measure before
Shea Garand dropped a tough bout by a score of 1-0 to 10th-ranked Palmer Rodenhaber to close the match.

Castleton opened up firing once again, with Bogle earning a quick pin in 1:14 to make it 6-0 Spartans. Gonyea followed up with a pin of his own, this one at 1:33 to make it 12-0. A pair of forfeits at 141 and 149 doubled Castleton's lead to 24-0 before Holmes was a 7-1 winner at 157 to make it 27-0.
A technical fall by Trinity's Kevin Lyskawa at 165 got the Bantams on the board 27-5. McLaughlin won a 9-5 decision at 174 and reigning NEWA Rookie of the Week
Josh Negron picked up a 5:26 pin at 184 to stretch the advantage to 36-5. A major decision for Trinity at 197 made it 36-9 before a forfeit at heavyweight gave Castleton the 42-9 victory.
The Spartans host a quad match next Saturday with No. 2 Johnson & Wales, Delaware Valley and Springfield.
