RUTLAND, Vt. – The Spartans improved to 4-2 on the year with a convincing 8-1 victory over visiting Lyndon St. on Saturday afternoon at Grand Slam Tennis in Rutland.
Castleton dropped just one singles match in winning their second straight. The Spartans won all three doubles matches, including a dominant 8-2 win at No. 3 by Mike Divis and Matt Trombley.
In singles, Mike Glaser set the tone at No. 1 singles taking the first set 6-0 and leading the second set 1-0 before his opponent retired. Kevin Rosset came through with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No.2 and Matt Trombley also won in straight sets at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Castleton returns to action on Sunday when the team plays against MCLA at 1 pm.
