Rutland, Vt. - The Spartans struggled in doubles play losing two of three matches for the first time all season and fell to Norwich 7-2 at Grand Slam Tennis in Rutland.

Castleton struggled in doubles play, falling 2-1 in the early stages of the match. Freshmen Kevin Rosset and Kyle Martin stayed undefeated on the year at second doubles, downing Joe Dvorak and Ian Hyte 8-5 at the second flight for the Spartans' lone doubles point.

In singles play the Spartans were stifled again, dropping five out of six flights. Rosset, making his first appearance of the season at the fourth singles flight, earned his second straight singles play victory, taking down Dvorak 6-1, 6-2. Rosset earned North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week honors last week after leading Castleton to a 9-0 sweep of Sage Colleges. The first-year has won four straight matches.

Castleton falls to 2-2 on the season, losing to Norwich for the second time this year. The Spartans will return to action on Saturday, March 29 when they take on Johnson St.
