Rutland, Vt. - The Castleton Spartans men's tennis team paid Thomas back for an early season showdown by beating the Terriers 7-2 on Friday at Grand Slam Tennis Complex in Rutland.
The Spartans started the match by taking two of three doubles flights. Stew Quinn and Adam McCaffery won 8-6 at first doubles while Corey Kimball and Mike Divis earned a point at third doubles, winning 8-3.
In singles, Castleton won five of six flights, including a nailbiter at third singles where Matt Trombly pulled out a 7-5, 7-5 straight-set victory.
The Spartans improved to 5-6 with the win, and will face Lyndon St. on April 14 in Rutland.
