WALTHAM, Mass. – In a high scoring Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match, the second seeded Albertus Magnus Falcons defeated the third ranked Castleton State College 5-3.

Rookie midfielder Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.) finished with a hat trick and junior midfielder Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) added a goal and two assists, including an assist on and the game winning goal to pace the Falcons.

Junior midfielder Zac Conlogue (Farmington, Maine) had a strong effort with two goals but it was not enough as Castleton ended its season at 13-7-2 on the season while Albertus Magnus improved to 17-3-1 and earned a berth in the ECAC Championship game against the top seeded Brandeis Judges.

Conlogue put the Spartans out front early, scoring in the second minute as he slipped one past Albertus Magnus keeper Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.). Castleton pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 30th minute when Bryce Kaler (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) scored off a Jacob Ferry (Warwick, R.I.) assist. Kaler received a pass from Ferry at the top of the box, wheeled around his boxed-out defender and rifled it home.

Barrett drew the Falcons even with a pair of goals in the 32nd minute. At the 31:04 mark he settled a deflected ball in the box and fired a low shot past the dive of Castleton goalie Nate Koenemann (Montpelier, Vt.). Just 30 seconds later Barrett potted the equalizer, working a nice give-and-go with Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.).

The Falcons took the lead for good in the 61st minute on an unassisted marker from Zapata, and tacked on two more in the 82nd minute on goals from Nick Woodhouse (Plainville, Conn.) and Barrett

Conlogue finished off the high-scoring affair with his second of the contest in the 87th minute.
