Cocoa, FL - Chelsea Cary (Corfu, NY) threw her second no-hitter this season for Alfred University to defeat the Castleton State College softball team, 8-0, in its season opener on Thursday morning.

Cary threw five hitless innings walking one batter while striking out eight.

The Saxons offense wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Jesika LeBarron (Campbell, NY) notched a two-run RBI double in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead.

Alfred scored two more runs in the second thanks to a passed ball and an RBI base knock from Nicole Hedrick (Albany, NY).

The Saxons added one more run in the fourth and three in the fifth to aid Cary's no-hit performance.

Castleton starter Hilary Bemis (Crown Point, NY) suffered the loss on four-and-one-thirds innings pitched allowing eight runs (all earned), nine hits, seven walks and two strikeouts.
