Box Score Johnson, VT - The Castleton State College men's lacrosse team trailed 9-7 midway through the fourth period, but scored four unanswered goals to pick up an 11-7 win at Johnson State to remain unbeaten at 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference play.
Michael Martinez scored two straight goals to tie the game at 9-9 with 6:47 remaining, and Michael DelDotto provided the game winner with 1:58 remaining as Castleton improves to 6-4 overall.
Castleton held a 5-3 edge through one period, as five different Spartans contributed goals. Johnson State outscored Castleton 3-1 in the second to enter halftime with the game knotted at 6-6. After a 1-1 third period, and two quick goals from the Badgers, Castleton was able to close out on a 4-0 run.
Martinez led the Spartans with three goals and one assist, while Ryan Bartlett and Kevin McCarthy each had two goals and one assist. Jake Rick provided one goal and one assist, while James Bascom, Kirk Bolduc and DelDotto each had a single marker.
Johnson State (3-2, 3-2 NAC) was ledd by Steve Noyes with three goals and two assists. Matt Riani added two goals and two assists, while Billy Noyes tallied two goals and one assist.
Branden Sawyer stopped 10 shots in the loss while Michael Mamunes and David DeGhetto combined to stop 10 shots for Castleton.
Johnson will host Emerson College on Saturday at 2:00 pm in their next contest while Castleton, having their game scheduled for Saturday cancelled with Thomas College, will host St. Joseph (Maine) on Tuesday 4:00 pm, both NAC contests.
