Castleton shut-out by Middlebury

Middlebury, VT-The Castleton State College softball team was shut-out in a pair of non-conference games at Middlebury College. The Spartans dropped the opener 7-0 and fell in the nightcap 6-0.

With the losses Castleton falls to 3-11 overall, while Middlebury improves to 9-7.

Game One: The Castleton bats were stymied in the opener, as Rachel Hunt mustered the team's only hit in the 7-0 loss. Laura Rogers gave up nine hits in six innings of work, allowing seven runs (six earned), while striking out one.

Game Two: Laura Rogers went 2-for-3 with a stolen base to lead the Spartan offense. Allison Lamay and Hilary Bemis each had one hit in the nightcap. Angie Carpenter started and allowed five runs (three earned) through four innings in taking the loss.

Castleton returns home for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday at 3:30 pm versus Green Mountain College.
