Leicester, MA-The Castleton State College softball team split a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader with Becker College, losing the opener 11-7, but rebounding to win the second in a 10-0 mercy rule.
Game One: Becker College pounded out 16 hits and put together a six-run third inning to take the win.
Castleton's Hilary Bemis was 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Spartan offense. Tosha Whittemore added on hit and two RBI, while Allison Lamay, Alicia Zraunig and Sarah Flore each had one hit and one RBI.
Game Two: Allison Lamay and Laura Emilo each had two hits, inlcuding a double and two RBI to lead the Spartans to the six-inning win. Hilary Bemis added three more hits including a double and scored a pair of runs.
Angie Carpenter picked up the complete-game shut out, allowing three hits while striking out six.
