Bangor, MA-The Castleton State College softball team saw their season come to an end at the hands of NAC East #2 Husson College 10-5 in the quarterfinal round of the NAC tournament.
The Spartans carried the #3 seed in the NAC West to Bangor, Maine only to see their hopes of an upset thwarted by a tough Eagles team. Castleton finishes out the season with a 16-9 overall record.
Castleton fell behind 2-0 after the first inning, but battled back to tie the score in the top of the second.
The Eagles would plate three in the fourth, two more in the fifth and three in sixth to put the game away and advance to the NAC Tournament which will be held at U. Maine-Farmington.
Shawna Bell led Husson with a double, triple and homerun, driving in three runs and scoring three more in the win.
Hilary Bemis had three hits and three RBI for Castleton, while Rachel Hunt and Lindsey McGinness each added two hits.
