Saratoga Springs, NY-The Castleton State College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Skidmore College, winning the opener 12-0 and losing the second game 12-4 in five innings.

In the opener Castleton received a one-hit complete game from junior, Laura Rogers and pounded out 15 hits to earn the win. Rogers struck out 10, walked one and was just a fifth-inning single away from a no-hitter.

Castleton plated six runs in the top of the first inning to start things off, tallied one more in the fourth and five in the seventh just for good measure.

Rachel Dunn went 3 for 5 with a double and four RBI to lead the Spartan offense. Numbers one through four in the order (Rogers, Alicia Zraunig, Rachel Hunt and Carley Amedore) each had two hits and one RBI, while "Bibit" Marion had a pair of hits and two RBI from the #8 spot.

Skidmore's Thyra Johnson produced their lone hit.

In the nightcap the Thoroughbreds produced single runs in the first and second innings, before exploding for and eight-run third, making it 10-2. Castleton would get a pair back in the top of the fourth, only to have Skidmore plate two in the bottom of the fifth, ending the game due to the eight-run mercy rule.

Castleton's offense was led by Rachel Hunt, who went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBI.

The Spartans equaled Skidmore's total of 10 hits on the game, but six out of Skidmore's 10 came in the eight-run third.

Castleton is back in action on Friday when they play host to Wheelock College at 3:00 pm.
