Box Score Newton, MA -The Castleton State College women's lacrosse team improved to 3-1 in NEWLA action as they bested Lasell College 12-4.
Castleton jumped out to a 5-2 lead at halftime, thanks to a pair of goals from Stephanie Pearce and two more from Alex Fleck. Nicole Bouchard also got in on the act with the final first-half tally, and Castleton cruised to the NEWLA victory.
Pearce ended the day with a career-high four goals and one assist. Bouchard added a hat-trick while Aimee Goulette, Katherine Cournoyer and Colleen Rupp each tallied single goals. Cournoyer also added three assists for her largest point output of the season.
Caitlyn Murphy, who is among the league leaders in goals, scored three of the Lasers' four on the afternoon.
Meredith Pope earned the win in the cage for Castleton, stopping three shots. Castleton improves to 4-2 overall while Lasell falls to 4-6 (1-4 NEWLA). The Spartans are back in action tomorrow morning when they host Ramapo College at 11:00 am.
