CASTLETON, VT. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's lacrosse team earned a decisive non-conference win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Monday afternoon, taking down the Beavers 14-9 at Dave Wolk Stadium.

How It Happened
Phoebe Loomis opened the scoring for the Spartans just over five minutes into the contest, igniting a four-goal first quarter that saw Castleton take a 4-2 lead after 15 minutes. The Spartans continued their offensive momentum in the second frame, outscoring the Beavers 5-2 behind goals from Loomis,
Gianna Geraci, and
Megan Ward to enter halftime up 9-4.
Castleton maintained control in the second half, fending off a handful of UMF runs. After trading goals in the third quarter, the Spartans sealed the victory with three goals in the final frame, including a woman-up strike from Loomis and a final tally from Ward in the closing seconds.
Loomis paced the Castleton offense with four goals and one assist, while Ward and Geraci each added hat tricks.
Renny Cota chipped in two goals, with
Brianna Paul and
Bella Gale each adding one. Geraci also led the team in assists with two.
In goal,
Katie Stager stood strong for the Spartans, recording eight saves to earn the win.
