Panthers Top Spartans in Road Battle

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's lacrosse team fell in a battle for the sixth spot in Little East Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 23-7 decision at Plymouth State.

How It Happened
The hosts went on a seven-goal scoring run that stretched into the second quarter before Phoebe Loomis slowed their momentum with an unassisted tally at 9:09 to make it 7-1.

Plymouth added eight more goals in the period, while Loomis scored again for the Spartans, making it 15-2 heading into halftime.

Halle Christian opened the third quarter with a man-up goal, assisted by Taylor Tallmadge, but Plymouth State responded with four straight goals.

Lanza Bellomo and Loomis each found the back of the net to slow the run once again, with Bellomo scoring late in the third and Loomis opening the fourth.

Renny Cota and Megan Culp added goals in the final stanza, while Culp and Bella Gale each recorded assists. The Panthers closed the game with four goals in the final nine minutes to secure the 23-7 victory.

By the Numbers
• Loomis led the offense with a hat trick, adding three ground balls and one draw control.
• Culp finished with a goal, an assist, and a team-best four draw controls.
Gracie Hurlbut recorded 10 saves in the loss.
