PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Cole Bowditch of the Vermont State University Castleton men's lacrosse team earned his first Little East Conference honor, being named Rookie of the Week for the weekend ending March 1.

After seeing his hockey season conclude Wednesday in a playoff loss to Plymouth State, Bowditch quickly shifted his focus to lacrosse.

The rookie and the Spartans fell to Thomas College, 16-13, on Saturday evening. In his first collegiate appearance, Bowditch scored five goals, going 5-for-6 on shots on goal. He also tied for the team lead with four ground balls.

Bowditch currently leads the conference in both goals per game and points per game, averaging five in each category.

Bowditch and the Spartans return to action Wednesday, March 4, when they host in-state rival Norwich University in a 7 p.m. matchup.
