How It Happened
Despite a violation on the opening faceoff, Castleton scored first as Taysean Metz found the back of the net unassisted to tally at 10:30. The hosts scored with 3:31 remaining in the first quarter, to not the game 1-1, as tie that would stand heading into stanza two.

The Spartans scored again to open the second as Preston Kozlowski potted his first goal of the season to make it 2-1 early. Carter Frankenhoff put up two back-to-back goals to make it 4-1 in favor of Castleton with eight minutes remaining in the first half.
The Roos went on a run of their own, scoring three goals to close out the half tied 4-4.

The second half was more back and forth, seeing the score tied three times (5-5, 6-6, 7-7) before Canton was able string together three goals to lead 10-7 heading into the final stanza. Frankenhoff again accounted for two goals, while Liam Evarts added his name to the list of goal scorers.

Evarts scored in the opening 40 seconds of the fourth quarter to pull his team within two, 10-8. Canton was able to score two more goals in a two-minute span to lead 12-8 with 11:38 remaining on the game clock.
