Spartans Claim First on Senior Day at West Mountain

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team claimed first place in giant slalom competition on Senior Day at West Mountain.
 
Eva Young claimed her second victory in as many days, posting a two-run time of 2:16.82. This win marked Young as the first MacConnell Division skier to earn multiple victories this season and moved her into second place in the overall individual standings with 405 points. Andrea Rodriguez followed closely in second place with a time of 2:17.28, securing her fourth podium finish of the season and maintaining her lead in the overall individual standings with 440 points.

Emilie Stene narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in 2:19.66. This result marked her sixth race this season finishing fourth or better and currently places her third in the overall individual standings with 400 points. Caitlyn Bumpers finished 13th with a time of 2:26.75, while Karleigh Hollister placed 17th in 2:30.29. Ellie Campbell rounded out the Spartans' results with a 30th place finish at 2:45.94.

In the team standings, Castleton earned first place with a combined time of 6:53.76. Clarkson University finished second at 7:02.89, followed by Babson College in third with a time of 7:11.12.

The Spartans return to action on February 7, traveling to Pat's Peak for slalom.
