Castleton Edges Babson to Win Giant Slalom at USCSA Eastern Regionals

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team won Saturday's giant slalom, placing first after edging Babson College by 0.32 seconds in day one of the USCSA Eastern Regionals. 

Emilie Stene finished second in 1:46.83, posting the second fastest times in both runs to secure silver. Eliza Mullen was seventh in 1:49.07,recording the sixth-fastest times in both runs. Makenna Price finished ninth in 1:49.98, posting the tenth-fastest times in each run and moving up one spot in the final standings. Karleigh Hollister came in 10th in 1:50.17, improving from 12th after the first run with the eight-fastest time in run two. 

The Spartans claimed the team title with a combined time of 5:25.88, ahead of Babson College at 5:26.20 and Northeastern University at 5:39.97. 

The Spartans will return to action tomorrow, February 15, for slalom at Sugarloaf.
