CASTLETON, Vt. – For the second time this season, Aidan Shufelt of the Vermont State University Castleton wrestling team was named the New England Wrestling Association's Rookie of the Week following a perfect 5-0 outing at the Wildcat Open.

The first year took home first place at 133 pounds with a perfect 5-0 record on the day. He opened the event with a pin in 1:45 over Jun Beato of Coast Guard, and followed up with a 6-2 decision over Braedon Goes. He took down Ethan Buonanducci of Bridgewater State in a tight 2-1 decision victory, and pinned Marvin Armistead of Coast Guard in 6:36 to move on to the championship match. The rookie ended the day taking down his own teammate, Stone Farnsworth, via a 13-4 major decision to claim first.

The Spartans host Johnson & Wales, Springfield College, and SUNY Brockport for the Castleton Quad and Senior Day on Saturday, February 7, set to begin at 12 p.m.
