ANDOVER, N.H. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team earned their second team victory of the season, capturing first place in Friday's slalom race at Proctor Academy.
Freshman Elisabeth Worster claimed the first collegiate win of her career, posting a winning time of 1:34.53. Castleton placed four skiers in the top ten, with Emilie Stene finishing third at 1:35.24, Andrea Rodriguez taking fourth in 1:35.43, and Makenna Price placing sixth with a time of 1:36.25. Eliza Mullen followed close behind in seventh at 1:36.92.
Additional Spartan finishers included Karleigh Hollister in 14th (1:41.54), Caitlyn Bumpers in 21st (1:46.47) and Ines Robres in 22nd (1:46.56) out of 70 racers.
Castleton had a combined team time of 4:45.20 to secure first place, finishing ahead of Babson College (4:52.90) and the University of Connecticut (4:58.21). With this victory, the Spartans now top the leaderboard in the USCSA MacConnell Division team standings.
The Spartans will continue their two-day road trip at Proctor Academy with day two of slalom on Saturday, January 17.
