NEWRY, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team opened the 2026 season with a first place finish on Monday, placing two skiers on the podium and seven among the top 15.
Emilie Stene led the Spartans, extending her program-record total to 25 career victories with a two-run time of 1:33.10. Elisabeth Worster followed with a third-place finish in her collegiate debut earning her first career podium with a time of 1:34.29.
Eva Young narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth at 1:34.81. Andrea Rodriguez, who sat second after the opening run, remained in the top 10 with a sixth-place result. Eliza Mullen finished eighth, with Makenna Price following closely behind placing 12th in her collegiate debut. Karleigh Hollister rounded out Castleton's scoring effort with a 14th-place finish.
Castleton secured the first place win with a combined time of 4:42.20.
