PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton wrestling program concluded a successful season on Friday at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championships in Providence, Rhode Island.
Gavin Bradley opened his day with a win over Tomah Gummow of Ithaca, pinning him in 2:44 to move on to the quarterfinal round at 125 pounds. Bradley was set to face off with North Central's Christian Guzman the second-seeded wrestler, falling 15-0 via tech fall to send him over to the consolation bracket. There, Bradley matched up with Benyamin Kamali of Olivet in a tough battle to continue his path in the tournament, but ultimately fell 12-5 via decision to the fifth-seeded wrestler to end his day.
James Rodriguez opened the day with a close loss via decision to third-seeded Pierre Baldwin of Central, putting him into round two of the consolation bracket. He bounced back with a 16-3 win via major decision over Andrew Loniewski of Muhlenberg to advance to round three on the consolation side of the bracket. Rodriguez's final match of the day was a tight 4-2 loss via decision to Cole Becker of Augsburg.
Elijah Cyr made his NCAA Championships debut, winning his opening match to start the morning 4-2 via decision over Taylor Smith of Washington & Jefferson to continue on to the quarterfinals at 149 pounds. He matched up with Cortland's second-seeded Angelo Centrone, falling in a tight battle, 4-2 by decision to be sent over to the consolation bracket. In his opening match in the consolation bracket, Cyr battled with Mike Glynn of RIT, with a late push down six points to be within four, but it was not enough to take down Glynn who took the 10-6 win via decision.
Nathaniel Camiscioli made his second appearance at the NCAA Championships in his second season as a Spartan, having to battle his way through the consolation bracket after a 7-3 loss by decision to Tyler Goebel of Wisconsin-La Crosse to start the morning session. Camiscioli matched up with Jared Lee of RIT in round two on the consolation side of the bracket, taking the 3-0 win by decision to continue his day. He came up short in round three of the consolation bracket, falling via pin in 2:02 to Oswego State's Tyler Rossini.
In his first NCAA Championships appearance,
Connor Gregory opened the day with a 22-3 loss via tech fall to Javen Estrada of North Central to send him over to the consolation bracket. In Gregory's opening match on the consolation side, he took down Otterbein's Cale Callahan 10-3 via pin to move on. He pulled Ithaca's Jackson Gray, coming up just shy of moving on with a 7-4 loss by decision.
Sampson Wilkins opened his NCAA Championships with a tough battle against Austen Wetzel of Westminster, falling 9-2 by decision to be sent to the consolation bracket. Wilkins wasted no time in his opening consolation round, pinning Jamie Evarts of Williams in 1:21 to continue his day. In his next round of the consolation bracket, he pulled a matchup with Joel Martsinovsky of Stevens. In a tight battle, Wilkins fell 7-3 by decision to conclude his day.
Haven Tatarek made his first NCAA Championship appearance, opening his day against Wabash's Charles Baczek, falling 9-0 via major decision to head to the consolation bracket. In his second match of the day, he put up a fight against Matthew Kelly of Rhode Island College but ultimately fell 4-2 via decision.

Evan Day drew Reid Garrison of Merchant Marine in the opening round, falling 8-0 via major decision to head to the consolation bracket. In his second match of the day, he matched up with Johnson & Wales Adolfo Betancur, falling 7-0 via decision.
The Spartans conclude a historic season, with a program-best eight individuals qualifying for the NCAA National Championships. Of the eight qualifiers, six won at least one match at the event: Bradley, Rodriguez, Cyr, Camiscioli, Gregory, and Wilkins. The squad posted a program-record 22 dual match wins, and Rodriguez became the programs all-time win leader, adding to an already impressive resume from his time as a Spartan.
