MANSFIELD, CT. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's lacrosse team fell on the road to a strong Eastern Connecticut squad, 17-5, in a Little East Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field.

How It Happened
Eastern Connecticut opened the game with a 7-0 run and never looked back, taking a 14-1 lead into halftime. Brianna Paul paced the Spartan offense with three goals and an assist, while Phoebe Loomis and Gianna Geraci each added one goal.
Castleton found more success in the second half, outscoring the Warriors 4-3 over the final two quarters. Kailyn August, Paul, and Bella Gale each recorded assists in the effort.
Defensively, Castleton forced four turnovers and picked up 13 ground balls. Loomis led the way with two caused turnovers, while Megan Ward added a strong all-around effort with four turnovers and three ground balls. August, Geraci, and Gale also chipped in defensively, combining for three ground balls and three draw controls.

The Spartans return to Dave Wolk Stadium on Wednesday, April 9, for a conference clash against Plymouth State. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m.
