BEND, Ore. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team concluded the 2025 season on Thursday, notching third place in slalom to take second overall at the USCSA National Championships.
Despite the tough conditions as the day went on, Castleton earned a trio of top 30 finishers, with two racers earning USCSA Slalom All-American Honors.
Emilie Stene posted the fourth-fastest second run time to move her into fourth place with a time of 1:34.25 to land her on the First Team USCSA All-American list.
Andrea Rodriguez followed close behind with a combined time of 1:35.73 to take sixth, earning her USCSA All-American Honors.
Karleigh Hollister took advantage of an earlier start position, and better course conditions in run two to finish 28th with a time of 1:42.67 and clinch the podium result for the Spartans.
Alice Pomi rounded out Castleton's finishers, with a combined time of 1:49.03, bouncing back from a tough first run to take 57th out of 140 racers.
As a team, Castleton posted a time of 4:52.65 to claim third place, trailing Northern Michigan University in second with a time of 4:49.02 and Rocky Mountain College with a time of 4:42.16.
The women of Castleton claimed four of the top 30 spots in the individual overall standings for the week. Stene posted 46.87 race points to take third, earning her third First Team USCSA All-American Honor of the week, and the sixth of her career. Rodriguez followed behind in fifth with 51.60 race points, also earning First Team All-American Honors, claiming her third honor of the week. Pomi clinched 22nd with 147.46 race points, and Hollister rounded out the Spartans with 187.42 race points, to take 30th out of 142 racers.
As a team the Spartans finished second overall, taking second in giant slalom and third in slalom. Rocky Mountain College claimed first overall, taking first in both events, with Babson College taking third and Clarkson University taking fourth out of 27 teams.
Due to forecasted conditions, the dual slalom event scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.
