CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine –
Emilie Stene nabbed her second first-place finish in as many days to propel the Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team to its second first-place finish of the weekend.
Due to weather, the second run of the day was canceled, so times are based on one run. Stene posted a run time of 34.59 to nab first in slalom after taking first in giant slalom Saturday.
Andrea Rodriguez posted a time of 35.10 to take third place.
Alice Pomi finished eighth with a time of 35.71,
Ginevra Trevisan notched 16th with a 36.92, and
Karleigh Hollister completed the field for the Spartans in 20th with a time of 37.58.
Castleton's team time was 1:45.40 to clinch first place, their seventh straight Eastern Regional slalom victory, followed by Maine Farmington in second with a time of 1:47.21 and UConn in third with a time of 1:48.89.
The Spartans earned their ticket to the USCSA National Championships held at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon March 11-15.
