CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team swept the podium on Saturday in giant slalom at Sugarloaf, taking home a first-place victory on day one of the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships.
Emilie Stene posted the fastest time of the day, taking first with a 1:26.51, followed by
Andrea Rodriguez in second with a 1:27.09, and
Alice Pomi just .20 of a second behind with a 1:27.29.
Karleigh Hollister finished in ninth with a time of 1:29.55, and
Ginevra Trevisan posted a 1:22.07 to finish 20th and round out the field for the Spartans.
The Spartans posted a combined team time of 4:20.89 to take first, with Babson following in second with a time of 4:27.54 and Northeastern taking third with a time of 4:29.84.
Castleton returns to Sugarloaf tomorrow, February 16 for slalom as day two wraps up the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships.
