LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team earned first-place finishes on both days of giant slalom at Whiteface this weekend.
Friday:
Castleton finished first with a combined time of 6:27.56, with UMass Amherst in second and Clarkson finishing third.
Alice Pomi finished first with a time of 2:05.63 and Emilie Stene finished behind her in second with a time of 2:07.33. Karleigh Hollister notched a fifth-place finish and Grace Porcaro finished 12th to round out the finishers for the Spartans.
Saturday:
The Spartans finished first for the second day in a row, with a combined time of 6:23.45. Babson finished second, with UMass Amherst following in third.
Stene notched her second podium finish in as many days, with a time of 2:06.78 to claim first. Pomi finished second for her second podium finish of the weekend with a time of 2:07.16. Andrea Rodriguez finished fourth, and Hollister notched a 12th-place finish to round out the Spartans finishers.
Castleton will head to West Mountain just over the border in Queensbury, N.Y. for two days of giant slalom starting on Saturday, February 1.
