Castleton, Vt. - Natalie Simecek of Vermont State University Castleton women's rugby was tagged to the 2023-24 Division III All-National Intercolligate Rugby Association's honorable mentions list, as announced Wednesday.

Simecek was named as an All-NIRA honorable mention recipient for her efforts in the 2023-24 season. The senior captain earned her first All-NIRA recognition after multiple key defensive saves and her conversion opportunities.

Head coach Erin LaMountain acknowledged the recognition with a few words for the captain. "Natalie's Honorable Mention award fills me with immense pride! It's a well-deserved recognition of her consistent dedication, not just this season but throughout her collegiate career. As a senior captain, she's been a true leader and inspiration to the team and will be deeply missed. This award is a beautiful closing chapter as she continues on, and I have no doubt she'll continue to achieve great things." 

Simecek joins a list of over 60+ student-athletes across Divisions I, II, and III that were recognized and honored by NIRA.
