HENNIKER, N.H. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's rugby team showcased their dominance over Saint Michael's College with a 55-22 victory.
The Spartans came out firing, surging to a 22-0 lead with four unanswered tries in the first 30 minutes. Their relentless ball-carrying and sharp execution proved too much for the Purple Knights' defense early on. Saint Michael's responded with a late push before halftime, taking advantage of turnovers to score two tries and cut the deficit to 22-10.
The second half was a much tighter contest, with both teams trading momentum through strong tackling and smart territorial play. The Spartans, however, made the most of their structured set pieces and dominant forward play, crossing the line five more times. Saint Michael's mounted a late scoring burst, but ultimately fell short.
