LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – By just 0.04 seconds, the Vermont State University Castleton women's alpine skiing team claimed its first race win of the 2024 season in the giant slalom at Whiteface on Friday.
Emilie Stene finished atop the leaderboard at 1:52.18 to mark back-to-back victories for the sophomore. Karleigh Hollister also made the podium, scoring the runner-up slot with a time of 1:54.51. Ines Robres Peireto and Camille Jackson added top-20 finishes in 15th and 16th, respectively, while Amanda Quiles rounded out the Spartans in 23rd.
VTSU Castleton took the No. 1 spot with a combined time of 5:49.88 as Babson was the runner-up, followed by Clarkson in third.
The Spartans wrap up the weekend at Whiteface tomorrow (January 20) with another giant slalom.
