CASTLETON, Vt. -- The Castleton women's rugby team was defeated by Bowdoin, 73-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Bowdoin, the 2021 NIRA Division III national champions, scored 11 tries with nine successful two-pointers. Saniya Ridley, Justine Endo-Ferguson, and Rebecca Vakarau led the Polar Bears with two tries apiece. Lauryn Eisenhart was 9-for-11 on conversions to contribute 18 points on the day.

Despite being held scoreless, the Spartans made many strong charges toward the try zone as sophomore back Katelynn Dunn performed remarkably well, filling in at scrum-half for the contest's final 40 minutes.

Castleton returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 1 at New England College. Kickoff in Henniker, N.H. is slated for 1 p.m.
